Auto insurance FAQ
What's the difference between liability-only and full coverage?
Liability-only covers damage and injuries you cause to others. "Full coverage" usually means liability plus collision and comprehensive, which also pay to repair your own car. Lenders require full coverage on financed or leased cars.
Can I get insured with an accident or DUI on my record?
Yes. Many carriers write high-risk drivers, and some specialize in SR-22 filings. Expect higher rates for three to five years after a major violation.
How often should I compare car insurance?
At every renewal, and any time you move, buy a car, add a driver or have a ticket fall off your record.
Will switching leave me with a gap in coverage?
No, if you start the new policy before canceling the old one. Your agent can set the start date to match.
