Editorial Policy
Last updated: October 3, 2026
PolicyWren publishes guides to help people understand insurance before they buy it. This policy explains how we create, review and update that content, and how we keep it separate from the companies that pay us.
How we write guides
- Guides are written by the PolicyWren editorial team.
- We rely on primary sources: state insurance departments, the NAIC, HealthCare.gov, the U.S. Department of Labor, FEMA and established industry organizations. We list our sources at the end of every guide.
- We explain the tradeoffs of each option and say when an answer depends on your state, insurer or policy.
- We don't publish rankings, ratings or price figures unless we can show where they come from.
Use of AI
We use AI tools, which we call Wren AI, to help research and draft our guides. Wren AI is software, not a person, and it is not a licensed insurance agent. Every factual claim in a guide is checked against the sources we cite, and we prefer primary sources such as HealthCare.gov, state regulators and the NAIC. Guides that a licensed agent has reviewed say so in the byline and name that person.
Review and updates
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We review guides when rules, deadlines or costs change, such as Marketplace enrollment dates, and at least once a year. When a licensed agent reviews a guide, the byline names them and links to their bio.
Independence from advertisers
We're paid by insurance companies, agents and other partners, as explained in our Advertiser Disclosure. Partners don't write, review or approve our guides, and paying us doesn't change what a guide says about coverage or costs.
Corrections
If you spot an error, email privacy@dryvermedia.com with the page and what you believe is wrong. We'll review it promptly and update the guide if we agree, noting the new updated date.
Not advice
Our guides are general information. They're not insurance, legal, tax or medical advice. Talk with a licensed professional about your situation.
